About
This historic property constructed in 1909 by Leon Heyman was originally the “Houma Bargain Store”. Situated along Main St. and Bayou Terrebonne this property flourished as a mercantile providing various goods from clothing to supplies. In the early 70’s the business closed and the family donated the property to Terrebonne Parish and later became Houma City Court .
Once City Court moved to a new location the building was left vacant for many year. The property was acquired in 2009 by a Houma native and underwent a complete renovation maintaining much of the historic architectural details and preserving the beautiful central staircase. Today 7887 Main is a multi-use dwelling for both commercial and residential tenants and has been listed on the national historic registry. Proudly nestled on Bayou Terrebonne, 7887 Main has a local fun vibe in the heart of great shopping, dining with numerous festivals and music venues in Historic Downtown Houma. |
